Reorganization and Restructuring
More recently, Petersen was invited to completely restructure and reorganize a Princeton justice nonprofit that was struggling and, after his work, successfully navigated the funder’s program requirements for successful implementation of the grant and nonprofit mission.
Big change requires massive ongoing input from stakeholders and, once a vision and plan are formed, it must be communicated ad nauseum throughout the transition.

Business Transitioning
Over the past decade, Dr. Saul Petersen oversaw the complete renaming and separation process of the nonprofit Engage NJ from a mission-drifting national nonprofit coalition of states. This then led quite organically to the successful founding of a new national consortium of nonprofits known as the Partnership Alliance, totaling 11 states and counting. This was responsible in its first year for being awarded almost $1million grant to honor MLK Jr.
When you ensure a nonprofit stays aligned with its mission, even if it means moving away from others in your orbit, some may feel threatened and judged. Don’t change course. Once I stick to the nonprofit mission and its grassroots history, clarity and action soon follow.

AmeriCorps Grant Writing and Compliance
With a success rate north of 90%, Dr. Petersen has secured over $ 11 million
in AmeriCorps grants since 2010, serving as lead architect and steward of
numerous state and federal grants that address poverty, manage service
members, and provide a stepping stone to close to 100 young professionals
seeking jobs with meaning.
Over the past decade, I have come to understand AmeriCorps compliance
issues programmatically and fiscally. I have vast experience with the pressure points landing at all levels in the process, having developed the skills necessary to program success.

Executive Coaching
Dr. Petersen has been working directly with top executives in nonprofit associations, business, state government, and higher education for almost two decades. He has experience working with leaders who have clarity, humility, an aura… AND… Petersen has worked with the opposite.
I have come to understand the governance responsibilities of a nonprofit board. This helps me guide nonprofit executives toward good decision-making, and away from mission-slip.
